 Dear Parents,

We had a fun week! We started our week with Sprint Day, which was very exciting. It was great to see so many supporting our school as we ran!

We have been working on remembering our addresses and phone numbers. I am so proud that many know them! Continue practicing at home, as I will continue to check on their progress with this.

We are in need of tissues. Any donations for the remainder of the year would be greatly appreciated.

In Language Arts we worked on letters Kk and Qq. We discussed how letter q has a good friend u and they stick together to say the /qu/ sound like queen. We also talked about how K says the /k/, similar to c, but only when it is next to certain vowels like e, i and y. Our Superkid program is really starting to roll and stories are becoming more complex, requiring a lot of blending. Continuing to help them blend smoothly as they read at home will help with consistency in reading. In math, we are moving along in measuring talking about weight, things that are heavier and lighter and also capacity, what holds more and what holds less.  In Religion we talked about how light is good, and Jesus is our light. We also talked about Earth Day, ways we can help the Earth and the 3 R's, reduce, reuse and recycle!

Update! I have updated the sight words section of my page (see the link at the top right of the page). These words are important to practice as they will be helpful to their success in reading. We play sight word ladder, climbing up the ladder as they hop to each word they say. They love looking for them in familiar stories. Even spelling them with letter magnets, all fun ways to practice.

Please check back as I update every Friday.

Have a good weekend!
